My CDs
Live at Vartan Jazz

While on the road in Denver, I got a call from producer Vartan Tonoian saying that he’d like to record me “Live, in Concert” for his newly formed jazz label. I was enthusiastic, not only because we would be recording live, but because it would give me a chance to record with so many of the superb musicians that I had worked with in the Denver area. Vartan was very hands on, suggesting arrangements and hand picking the songs to be performed from my long list of jazz anthems. The result is a recording that is truly “alive” while projecting my love for jazz and blues.

From the Liner Notes

Laura is a compelling, vivid and versatile artist, vocally, musically and dramatically. She routinely dazzles and startles critics and audiences alike, marrying various styles, her talents abetted by long experience in a rainbow of contrasting stage roles in theaters from coast to coast. As one of the nation’s leading jazz singers, Laura’s vocal range, control of tonal weight and color, improvisational style, near-ethereal scatting explorations and laster-sharp rhythmic attacks define and reveal anew the best of American classic song literature.
